VMS-4 Multiple Secondary Transformer Isolation Device

  • A two-channel device with a transformer on each side with a single primary winding and three secondary windings. All inputs and outputs are gold-plated XLR connectors. Isolated outputs eliminate ground loops and minimize loading effects when connecting multiple inputs to an output.
  • Each output may have pin-1 of the XLR connector lifted from all other points with a recessed switch. You can’t drop the box and break the switch.
  • The VMS-4 is a passive unity gain system using Jensen JE-MB-E transformers. It is designed to work at microphone level, but may be used at line level (0 VU). Typical harmonic distortion + noise = .0035% @ 20dBU, 1KHz.
  • The housing for the VMS-4 is aluminum with engraved nomenclature. The writing doesn’t wear off after two weeks of use!
  • Optional 3-way tape return selector is also transformer isolated.

900-089 Masthead amplifier, DK2000 and RK4 racks
Restores loss in the cable, if long lengths are used from antenna to Audio Ltd. racks. Amp. provides up to 10dB gain and is phantom-powered directly from the rack. Max. cable length. determined by cable type used and associated loss. Typical RG58 type, 50O OHMs exhibits a loss of 6-8dB at 1000MHz per 10m length.
101-524 Antenna, directional 3-element VHF YAGI, collapsible
This is a directional 3-element collapsible, VHF, YAGI antenna, with approximately 6dB gain and a bandwidth of 20MHz. This antenna is available in the frequency range between 165MHz and 235MHz. The antenna is fitted with 1.5 meters of RG58 cable terminated with a BNC connector, and supplied with a mounting bracket.

This is available in the range between 140MHz and 220MHz. This antenna is generally used when the range required is greater than that achieved with the 900-022 helical antenna.
900-025 Antenna, helical VHF with 3M stud
This is a helical, VHF antenna terminated with a 3M stud for use with HX2000 handheld transmitter. This is available in the frequency range between 170MHz and 220MHz.
900-026 Antenna, quarter-wave UHF with 3M stud
This is a quarter-wave, UHF antenna terminated with a 3M stud, for the use with the HX2000U handheld transmitter. This is available in the frequency range between 400MHz and 900MHz.
900-027 Antenna, portable half-wave dipole with mounting clip
This is a portable half-wave dipole antenna, which is supplied with a mounting clip and four meters of RG58 cable, terminated with a BNC connector. This antenna is suitable for use with the DK2000, RK2, RK4 racks or with individual receivers. This omni-directional antenna is generally used when increased range is required from the system. When the dipole antenna are used with the portable RK2 two way rack, DX2020, DX2000U, DX2000 receivers, the (100-159) BNC female-SMA adaptor will be required.
900-120 Antenna, quarter wave with 3-meter cable
This is a full quarter-wave antenna with a magnetic mount. It is supplied with 3 meters of RG174 cable terminated with a BNC connector. This antenna is particularly useful in filming of car to car sequences. The antenna is mounted externally on the car body and the cable is run to either the receiver or the transmitter, depending on the application. If the antenna is used with the individual receivers, or, with a transmitter then it should be used with the (100-159) BNC female to SMA male adaptor.

This is a flexible, VHF, quarter-wave antenna terminated with an SMA connector for use with the TX2000 VHF transmitter. This is available in the frequency range between 140MHz and 220MHz.

101-113 Lead, microphone for 48V phantom powered microphones
This cable allows any balanced 48V Phantom powered microphone to be used with a TX2020 or TX2000 transmitter. An in-line power supply module provides the voltage conversion from the 9 Volt internal battery of the transmitter.

A transformer capable of handling up to 1 Volt is used to provide the balanced to unbalanced connection, capable of coping with the highest levels from normal microphones.

For microphones with output levels of up to 20mV (KMR81, MKH416, CMC*, etc.) and the transmitter, microphone gain control set to position 7, the noise of the system is entirely due to the microphone, the limiter operates at 94dB acoustic level with clipping occurring at 120dB. With the transmitter microphone gain control set to position 0, the system will handle 120dB acoustic level without compression.
101-114 Lead, TX2000, TX2020
Use of this lead with TX2000 or TX2020 transmitter enables the optimum performance to be obtained from a 200-ohm dynamic microphone.

Taking advantage of the high input impedance of the transmitter, a high quality transformer provides a better match for low impedance sources than direct connection (i.e., using lead 900-018), and gives 17dB of gain.

For microphones with sensitivity of 1 mV (M160) and the transmitter microphone gain control set to position 7, the input noise is minimum. The limiter then operates at 103dB acoustic level. With transmitter set to microphone gain position 1, the system will handle 127dB acoustic level without compression.

This cable is used for connecting the balanced output of any Audio Ltd. receiver, fitted with a six pin LemoTM socket, or RK2 rack, to a professional mixer and also providing external powering to the receiver via an un-terminated cable, allowing the user to fit the connector of their choice. The maximum external DC voltage is 14V for the DX2020 and DX2000 receivers and 12V for the MX2000 receivers. The RK2 will accept a maximum external DC voltage of 16V.

This cable allows the transmitter to be fed with the output from a mixer via a three pin female XLR, and also provides external powering to the TX2020 or TX2000 transmitter. The powering cable is left un-terminated to allow the user to fit the connector of their choice. The maximum allowable, external DC voltage is 12V. Overall cable length is 1.2m.

This cable is used for connecting the balanced output of any Audio Ltd. receiver, fitted with a six pin LemoTM socket, or RK2 rack, to a professional mixer and also providing external powering to the receiver via a cable terminated with a male 4-pin XLR. The XLR is wired as pin 1 ground and pin 4 positive DC. The maximum external DC voltage is 14V for the DX2020 and DX2000 receivers and 12V for the MX2000 receivers. The RK2 will accept a maximum external DC voltage of 16V. This cable can be used with the 900-013 power supply unit.

This cable allows a T-powered microphone to be connected directly to the TX2020 or TX2000 transmitter and is powered directly from the internal, 9V battery of the transmitter. The XLR is wired as pin 3 positive (Nagra configuration). Overall cable length is 1.2m.
900-061 Cable, T-powered microphone, XLR pin-2 positive
This cable allows a T-powered microphone to be connected directly to the TX2020 or TX2000 transmitter and is powered directly from the internal, 9V battery of the transmitter. The XLR is wired as Pin 2 positive (DIN configuration). Overall cable length is 1.2m.
900-063 Cable, headphone with LemoTM connector
This cable provides a headphone output from the DX2020, Dx2000 and MX2000 receivers via the six pin LemoTM connector. The short cable is terminated with an in-line quarter inch stereo socket (wired as mono). The output level is adjustable via the potentiometer on the receiver.
900-142 Cable, DX2000, DX2020 to mixer connector
Cable which connects the balanced output of the DX2000, DX2020 or RK2 rack to a professional mixer, while simultaneously providing external power to the above via a cable terminated with a male 4-pin HiroseTM connector. The HiroseTM connector is wired as pin 1 ground and pin 4 positive. This cable has a built-in voltage regulator – the max. permissible external DC voltage is 18V. Overall cable length: 0.5m. Usually used in conjunction with a Hawk-Woods NP-1 adapter, SQN series IV or AD 261 mixer.
900-143 Cable, to power receiver from PAG 90 battery
Used with a receiver when mounted on a camcorder with a BP90 power connector. Provides a balanced audio output while providing external power to the receiver via the built-in regulator. Compatible with any Audio Ltd. receiver fitted with a fix-pin LemoTM socket and any camcorder fitted with a BP90 connector. Max. permissible external DC voltage: 18V. Overall cable length: 0.5m.
900-018 Cable, standard dynamic, microphone to TX2000 or TX2020
This cable allows a standard dynamic microphone to be connected to a TX2020 or TX2000 transmitter via a three pin female XLR connector. The cable provides an unbalanced input to the transmitter. This cable can also be used to feed a line output from a mixer, directly to the transmitter. The microphone gain setting must be set to position 8 or 9 depending on the level of the line output from the mixer. Overall cable length is 1.2m.

This cable is used for connecting the balanced output of all Audio Ltd. receivers fitted with a six pin LemoTM socket, or RK2 rack to a professional mixer. Overall cable length 0.5m.

900-035 Dual cable, 2 receivers on camcorder
This dual cable is used with two receivers mounted on a Camcorder. The cable provides the balanced outputs from two receivers and simultaneously provides external powering to the receivers via a dual regulated cable terminated with a single, male four pin HiroseTM connector. The HiroseTM connector is wired as pin 1 ground : pin 4 positive DC. The maximum external DC voltage is 14V for the DX2020 and DX2000 receivers and 12V for the MX2000 receivers. The 900-035 cable can be used with any Camcorder fitted a four pin HiroseTM socket, which provides an external DC connection. The Hawk-Woods NP1 adapter can also be used to provide external power to the receiver via the 900-035 cable. In the event that the user is externally powering the mixer (SQN IV, AD261, LSP4) from an external DC source, such as an NP1 adapter then this cable should be used to externally power any receivers, as the powering arrangement on the HiroseTM socket on these mixers is configured (pin 1 ground : pin 4 positive DC).
900-032 Dual Cable, 2 Audio Ltd. receivers
This is a dual cable used for connecting the balanced outputs of two Audio Ltd receivers, fitted with six pin LemoTM sockets, or RK2 rack, to a professional mixer while simultaneously providing external powering to the receivers or RK2 via a dual cable terminated with a single, male four pin HiroseTM connector. The HiroseTM connector is wired as pin 2 ground and pin 3 positive DC. The maximum external DC voltage is 14V for the DX2020 and DX2000 receivers and 12V for the MX2000 receivers. The RK2 will accept a maximum external DC voltage of 16V. The Hawk-Woods NP1 adapter can also be used to provide external power to the receiver via the 900-032 cable. If the user's mixer (SQN, AD261, LSP4) is being externally powered from an external DC source then it should be noted that this cable cannot be used to externally power the receivers by attaching the HiroseTM connector to the mixer, as the four pin HiroseTM on the mixer is wired as pin 1 ground : pin 4 positive DC. Overall cable length 0.5m.

The mounting plate (101-116) which hold the DX2000, DX2020 diversity receivers, or (101-520) for the MX2000 receivers are then attached to the cage. The RMH1S (900-132) can also be attached to this quick-release mounting bracket
101-520 Bracket for MX2000 receiver
This bracket is designed to hold the MX2000 receivers. It fits directly onto a SONY NP1 holder or the 101-115 quick release bracket to mount the receiver onto the PAG battery.
101-116 Bracket, DX2000, DX2020 diversity receivers
This bracket is designed to hold the DX2020 or DX2000 diversity receivers. It fits directly onto a SONY NP1 holder or the 101-115 quick release bracket to mount the receiver onto the PAG battery.

900-104 Remote control, pocket transmitter
The remote control system allows the TX2000 transmitter to be switched on and off by the operation of the remote control within the radius of approximately 20 cm from the detector. It can be used in any situation where direct handling of the transmitter is restricted. Due to its small size, the detector fits unobtrusively between the microphone and transmitter and can, for example, be hidden under an actor's clothes. The remote control of the switching, without physical contact with the unit, allows battery management during a long day of shooting and/or easy preservation of the actor's privacy between the takes. To allow the different constraints of use and to achieve greatest reliability, the control signal is transmitted magnetically. The maximum rang is 20-50 cm, dependent on the relative position of the units. For maximum reliability, the distance between the remote control and the sensor should therefore not exceed 20 cm.
900-105 Remote switch, pocket transmitter
Comprised of a short male-female LemoTM extension lead, the detector is compatible with all (negative ground) electret microphones, the VDB L-48, L-DYN and L-line leads. If a momentary (<1s) power cut should occur, the detector will memorize the transmitter condition (on or off). Should the disconnection period be greater (e.g., battery change), the transmitter will start in the on position.

900-031 Windsheld
This windshield is identical to the B5D windshield supplied from Schoeps. It has an integral air-gap, which aids in the reduction of the ‘popping’ effects and has better immunity from wind noise than the standard 100-925 foam windshield.
100-925 Windshield, foam for HX2000
This is a standard foam windshield, which is normally supplied with the HX2000 handheld transmitter.
900-287 Windshield, external foam for HxiR
This is an external foam windshield for use on the HxiR hand-held transmitter. Provides slightly more protection from wind noise than the standard internal foam windshield supplied but is unsuitable for very windy conditions.

This is a custom made battery pack which houses an insert holding eight 1.5V "AA" type batteries to form a 12V DC supply. This battery pack was initially designed to power the older RMS12 series receivers and also the RX2000 range of receivers. However, when used in conjunction with the 900-053 slide on adaptor then this allows the combination to be used as a stand alone 12V DC supply.
